Unforgettable Night

-A Long Overdued Post-

Hello people… I’m online again, No thanks to FYP and all other assignments that kept me busy since my last post. A big shout-out and thanks goes out to all of you that keeps on frequenting my blog, even though it’s not updated for almost 2 weeks. Thank you very much

Here’s the much anticipated topic sought after by many MMU students, especially since that Unforgettable Night was held in Putrajaya International Convention Center on the 14th of April 2006. The ticket for the night may cost a bomb, but the services and the organization bombs most of the people’s heart. I’m not going to tell you how lousy the night was, but a short snippet of it won’t hurt, her it go.

The food that were being served are rotten food (to some tables), and instead of solid 8 course or even 5 course meal, we had for our 1st dish, bun/bread, whatever. We were supposed to eat it with butter. Then came the 2nd dish which is salad, where you can make for yourself at home at larger servings. 3rd dish was soup, mushroom soup. OH man… then came the 4th dish, which is supposed to be the dinner for the night, Chicken rice. Yes, u heard me right, it’s chicken rice!! One where you can get from Ayamas, or the Chicken Rice Shop, then came dessert, with fruits and cakes… and one more thing to be noted. The second dish came 30 minutes after the first dish, and subsequent dishes came within the time of 30-45 minutes. The performances were good, except some crappy magic show, which saw our honorable former Prime Minister being made like a puppet on stage (DISCLAIMER: I’m not condemning anybody, but the way it is being conducted me come up with this thought. No offences to the former PM). The theme of the night was supposed to be “The affairs of the red carpet” (No?) but people were not allowed to take pictures on the red carpet, what more step on it (The Emcee specifically made this announcement),, Hmmmm… The one and only performance that really was good was Joanne Yeoh's violin act, she was the star of the night, mesmerizing us with 2-3 songs from her album, but sad to say, she was not being acknowledged by the organizing people, and was made to set up booth where no one even knows (except for a few tables situated close to her booth) The emcee’s didn’t say anything about her, the usherers didn’t tell people about her existence at the back of the hall… sigh.. I feel for her…You can check out the rest of the complains HERE.

For me, the main highlight of the night was to be able to take pictures with friends in suits and gowns, and being able to have a reunion among friends, and sadly, it’s not about the grand venue, it’s not about the presence of VVIP’s and VIP’s, it’s not about the food, and the organizing committee has to buck up on this. For RM890 a table, one could have eaten in a 5-star hotel till one’s stomach explode, (you get the meaning?), but here, cars were seen lining up to go mamak/fast food restaurants after that. What a pathetic sight to behold, but this is a fact. I hope the next U-Nite committee will take this as lesson, and do better in the future, if there’s anymore U-Nites next year.

So here are some of the photos I’ve taken, and for me, it was really an Unforgettable Night to remember …
