Happy Birthday, Malaysia..:)

Merdeka!.....Merdeka!!.....Merdeka!!!....The roar of independence resonated throughout Merdeka Square by the then Prime Minister of Malaysia, Almarhum Tunku Abdul Rahman, on the 31st of August 1957.

And the spirit of Merdeka lives on until now, with today being the 47th year our beloved country, Malaysia gained her Independence from the British rule. Today we celebrate the 47th Independence day of Malaysia in full of pride and achievements, with our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah bin Hj Ahmad Badawi saying that we had already came a great distance in our progress, from the time of our founding forefathers right up till now. He said in His speech that we shouldn’t le go of our roots, and we as the young generation should always remember how our fathers fought for Independence.

I stayed up till the wee hours of the morning watching the various life telecast of events and happenings around the country. From Northern Perlis till Southern Johor, including Sabah and Sarawak, p[people form all walks of life, regardless of race, religion and age, came together to ushered in the country’s independence in style. From singing to dancing, performance to speeches, the whole country had instantly turned into a lively hive of activities, with everyone, from the young to the old, VIP to the farmers, they just came together and sing patriotic songs and performed their various dance. I was looking in amazement at how peaceful Malaysia was.

The stability and the peacefulness of our country had earned loads of praises from tourists and the like all around the world. Unlike other countries, where we may have heard of brutal massacred of people, and fatal bombings of cars and building, Malaysia experienced none of those. And to say Malaysia is indeed a safe country is absolutely true. Like what our former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad said in his inaugural Merdeka Speech last year that all Malaysian could live together in harmony and peace is indeed a testimony of our country’s fame and honor. And echoing his thoughts was Datuk Seri Abdullah, who said that our younger generation shouldn’t forget what our leaders had done for us, and to ensure that our country will continue to progress lies in the hand of all our youth, because youths are the leaders of tomorrow.

I am so glad and blessed to be born in Malaysia, without war, without major city riots, without dissention among leaders, without major terrorist threats, what else could one asked for in return? I read one of the newspaper special pull-out in conjunction with Independence Day, and the article mentioned about how fortunate and lucky the writer can go to work without afraid of planes crashing into building, without being afraid of her car exploding, without being afraid of being slaughtered on the street. It may sound ironic to have such comments published on the media, but this is the fact. Malaysia is indeed a safe and wonderful country to be in, nd I really thank our 5 Prime Ministers, who had done a great and marvelous job in leading the country to great heights. Without them, I doubt our country could have reached such a stage.

I Love to be Malaysian. Happy 47th Birthday, Malaysia!!
